If we ask all the 7 persons to go and sit in the buses one by one, every person will have 4 choices. He/she can sit in any one of the 4 buses.

So, the number of ways in which one person can sit in which one person can sit in 4 buses = 4.

The same goes for remaining 6 persons.

So, the total number of ways in which 7 persons can sit in 4 buses = 4 (multiplied 7 times) i.e. 4^7.

So, the answer is 4^7.

Where as given that 7 people can sit in any bus so all of them can sit any one bus also
so i think 7^4 ways

Given that a person can sit on any bus.
This means, the 1st person has 4 buses to choose from AND 2nd person also has 4 buses to choose from AND 3rd person has 4 buses to choose from. ( 4 buses to choose from means there are 4 possible outcomes)
Just writing the possibilities for 1st, 2nd, 3rd person and so on, we get
4 AND 4 AND 4 AND.... and so on.
Remember AND means multiply.
4 * 4* 4 * 4* 4 * 4 * 4 => 4^7 is right

The 1st person can go and sit in any of 4 buses so 1st person can sit in 4 ways similarly 2nd person has 4 ways and so on....,therefore 4*4*4*4*4*4*4=4^7 ways
