let distance moved by taxi in a day = x kms
by own car in a day = y kms
so (7x+6y)*7=595 rs
or 7x+ 6y = 85
or 7x= 85 - 6y
first value of y which makes the expression divisible by 7 is 6 i.e
7x = 85 - 36 = 49
so x= 7 y = 6 so distance by taxi in a week = 7y or 42 kms .

there will be 15 solution to this problem. (if only integer value are considered)

the eqn is
7x + 6y =595
hence x can have max value as 85 (595/7)
and y can have max value as 99 (595/6)

x=85-(6y/7)
now we will put all value of y from 0 to 99 which are divisible by 7
if y=0 then x=85
y=7 then x=79
y=14 then x=73
y=21 then x=67
y=28 then x=61
y=35 then x=55
y=42 then x=49
y=49 then x=43
........

.........
y=98 then x=1


but if decimal values were taken ther are infinite solution are there for this problem.

the answer is very simple
given,
rate of travel by taxi= Rs 7
rate of travel by car =Rs 6
let
x=distance travel by taxi
y=distance travel by car
so 7*x + 6*y= 565
x=(595-6y)/7
x=85-(6y/7)
since distance travelled is a whole no. therefore in order to get x and y as a whole no the only solution is
x=79km and y=7km
also, (79*7)+(7*6)=595

then for 85 km he claims Rs.595 (85*7=595).
so the answer is 85 km.

so total 7+6=13;
taxi: 7/13*595=320
car: 6/13*595=274

Answer is 42 .
by Dividing 595 by (7+6 =13), we get 595/13 = 45 + 10/13 .
it means that by travelling 45 kms each by taxi and his own car , he claimed Rs 585. then he travelled 1 km more by taxi. now he has to claim 3 rs more .
so he had claimed 3 km by taxi instead of his own car .
hence kms travelled by car = 45- 3 = 42.

= 1.km . travel charge is 1 Rs.

Let x and y be the respective km's travelled by man via taxi and by his own car.

7x+6y=595
So when x=55 y=35
7(55)+6(35)=595
So,ans is 55 km's
