19, every word can only be appeared 20 times from 1 to 100. nd it is starting from 11, so 19 times used...

THEN CONSIDER THE NUMBERS 14,24,34,44,54,64,74,84,94=9... SO TOTALLY 19...

between 7 and 100
14,24,34,54,64,74,84,94=8 times
40,41,42,43,44,45,46,47,48,49=10 times, Here 44 will be counted another times
so 11 times.

8+11=19 times

total no. of words from 11 to 100 is 90
probablity of getting 4 at first position is 1/9
probablity of getting 4 at last position is 1/10
no. of fours = (1/9)*90 + (1/10)*90 = 19.

Ans is 19
Consider the range from 12 to 99
Probability of getting 4 at Ones place is : 9c1*1c1 = 9*1 = 9
Probability o getting 4 at Tens place is : 1c1*8c1 = 1* 8 =8
Sum = 9+8 =17
Now consider the case of 44
Probability of getting 44 = 2! =2*1=2
So; Total = 17+2
=19

19 is correct answer because, if we divide 11 to 100 in some section like 11 to 19, 20 to 29 ..... 90 to 99 except 40 to 49 there are total 8 4 coming and the very imp section i.e 40 to 49 contains 11 4 so 19 is the correct answer .

18 because for 11 to 100 in each row there is a 4 but in 44 there is two 4 so (14,24,34,44,54,64,74,84,94) a total of 10 4's and also in the row(41,42,43,45,46,47,48,49) a total of 8 4's.
so total 10+8=18.

let us take _ _ two digit number
let fix the unit's place to 4 such as _ 4 then to fill ten's digit we can have 9 ways exlcuding 0 because given range is 11 to 100
now consider 4 in ten's digit it will be 4 _ here there are 10 ways of filling
total no. of 4 in btwn 11 to 100 is (9+10)-1
because as 44 will occur in both cases
thus total number of 4's is 18.
