Variance is always independent of change of origin but not from scale. For example:
V(X+a)=V(X)+V(a)
=V(X)+0
=V(X) {since var. of a constant is
always 0}
Above, we changed the origin by adding something in variance and we got the same variance again.Now,
V(aX)=a^2V(X)
Above, we changed the scale by multiplying something in variance and we didn't get the same thing I.e.same variance.
