Brother A and B had some in the ratio 4:5 say 4x:5x.
They decided to buy a gift for their sister, sharing to
cost in the ratio 3:4 say 3y:4y.
After they bought, A spent two third of his amount ( means 4x*2/3= 8x/3) while B is left with 145 means 5x-4y=145.
value of gift =7y.
solving, we get
value of gift = Rs. 624.61

Brother A and B had some in the ratio 4:5 say 4x:5x.
They decided to buy a gift for their sister, sharing to
cost in the ratio 3:4 say 3y:4y.
B is left with 145 means 5x-4y=145.
A is 4x/3=3Y
Y=4X/9
5X-4(4X/90)=145
X=45,Y=20 3Y+4y=GIFT TOTAL MONEY=60+80=140

let the amounts be 4x:5x;
share of cost = 3y:4y;
then 2/3(4x)=3y and 5x-4y=145;
on solving the equations we get the value of gift as 447.09
