if consider fixed point is (0,0)
then he will be lastly at the point (3+4,0)=(7,0)
i.e 7 km away from origin in +ve X direction(EAST)

here is a short cut for the direction sense problems
Opposite directions should be subtracted and same directions to be added
North East South East
5 3 5 4
___________________________________

noth-south=5-5=0
East + East= 3+4=7km east
answer is 7km east

Suppose fixed point is X Ranjan goes 5 km north from X point
then goes right means east 3km, and then goes south 5km
so 5-5=0 so from fixed point X total linear distance is now 3km east
now ranjan again goes 4km in east side (by question)
so total distance=(3+4)km=7km in east from fixed point X.
Ans. is 7km, east.
