q to be maximum p and r should be minimum.i.e 0 ,0.hence 509+307+2Q8=1114 ,Q=9

here p + Q + R =9.(.but P !=Q!=R)(!= means not equal.)
=> max(Q/p/r) =8..because (8+1+0=9)

how do you get 2+p+q+r=11,how means

9+7+8=24 so below the for P+Q+R+2=11
and 5+3+2=10 so we have to add 1 for 10 then we will get sum as 11

in ten's digit we have p,q and r.
after adding the one's digit of all the three numbers we get 24.
that means carry is 2.
so p+q+r+2=11 or p+q+r=9
so q will be max when both p and r are min.
now if we take p and r are equal then put p=r=0 then q will be 9
and if we take p!=r then take one of them as 0 and another as 1 then q will be 8

maxvalue=p+q+r=9
so. max value of q= 9

for me its 9..
range of Q can be bw (0 to 9)
so for max value if Q is 9...then(5P9+3R7)=1114-298=816(where in addition 9+7=16,1 carry..so P+R+1=1(considering P=0,R=0),and 5+3=8)....

we can assume p=0 and R=1........
then 509+317+2Q8=1114.
2Q8=288.
then Q=8 is answer
