if birds on 1st branch=x, 2nd branch=y
Ist condition, x-1=y+1, x-y=2 ---(i) &
2nd condition, x+1=2(y-1), x-2y=-3 ---(ii)
Solving (i) & (ii), x=7, y=5

7:5 is correct
7-1=5+1
7+1=2(5-1)

consider 2 birds in one branch and 4 birds in second branch.
1) one bird jump from branch 1 to branch 2 then the ratio is 3/3=1/1 i.e equal no of birds.
2) again one bird jumps from branch 2 to branch 1 then their ratio will be 4/2=2/1 i.e double the ratio of second branch birds

ans is 1st branch birds are 4 and second branch birds are 2 i.e x=4 and y=2

I have small doubt if one goes and sits in another branch....
how you guys changing x-1 to x+1 in 2nd condition...
I guess it has to be x-1+1 in second condition...

answer has to be 6:4 or 3:2

let first brance contain birds = x
let second brance contain birds = y
1st : x-1=y+1
x-y=2
2nd : 2(y-1)=x+1
-x+2y=3

solve 1 n 2

x=7
y=5
