0.64 * 0.96 = 61.44
that is 100-61.44 = 38.56
which is 1.44 % less than 40
so 0.144*500=7.20 Rs

first discount 40%of500 is equals to 200
second is two successive discount 4%of 500 is 20 so we save 20 rs . now 36%of(500-20) =36%of480 is 172.8 so we saved 172.8 total saving is 20+172.8 = 192.8
now difference b/w first and second discount is 200-192.8 = 7.2 which is option 4) Rs.7.20
