volume rate * time = volume
here A,B are doing the positive work, i.e filling the tank
and C is doing the negative work
rate of, A -> 42
B -> 56
C -> -48
So, (A+B-C)*time = volume
volume = (42+56-48)*16 = 50*16=800 litres

so the answer is 2)800 lit

there is a little mistake in the previous answer.
The formula is ( A+B+C), where C is negative.

((A+B)-C)*16=Capacity of the tank,
so,
((42+56)-48)*16
50*16
800 liters
