Given x+y=6, Squaring on both sides
Then X2+Y2+2XY=36
the above condition satisfies only if x=2, y=4 or x=4 ,y=2
then xy=8.
answer is 8

many users gave solution as 8 and said that only (4,2) satisfies.
But they are wrong
(4,2)
(2,4),
(3,3),
(5,1),
(6,0)
and many more values that satisfies the x+y=6 equation in infinity since their domain is R.
hence the below is correct solution
x+y=6
1/x+1/y=1/6
x+y/(xy)=1/6
6/xy=1/6
xy=36 is the answer.
