24 horses and 50 humans.

Let's assume that X = Human and Y = Horse

X + Y = 74 --->(i) (Heads of the human and horse)

2X + 4Y = 196 --->(ii) (Legs of the human and horse)

(2X + 4Y) - (2X + 2Y) = 196 - 148

2Y = 48
Y = 24

Substitute Y value in equation (i)
X + (24) = 74
X = 74 - 24
X = 50

So, 24 horses and 50 humans are there.

let d numbr of humans be 'h'
let d numbr of horses 'H'
total numbr of heads is 74(given)
so h+H=74
total numbr of legs =196(given)
so 2h+4H=196 [note: humans hav 2 legs each nd horse has 4 legs each]

now solve d above two equations
ie h+H=74
2h+4H=196

SO h=50 nd H=24

no of persons=74-49=25
