Let the slower pipe alone fill the water tank in t minutes.

Then, faster pipe will fill it in t/4 minutes.

Therefore, 1/t + 4/t = 1/30

=>5/t = 1/30

Now solve for t.

=> t=150 min

Faster pipe takes time T1
Slower pipe takes time T2
We know T1 = 4T2

part filled in 1 min
1/T1 + 1/T2 = 1/30

1/4T2 + 1/T2 =1/30
solve for T2, u get T2= 75/2 = 37.5
i.e slower tap alone takes 37min 30sec to fill the tank

Let faster tap fills the tank in x minutes then slower tap will fill that tank in 4x minutes
let the volume of tank is V
then rate of fast tap is (s1) = V/x
and rate of slower tap is (s2)= V/4x
and according to question
s1+s2= V/30
in this equation if we put the value of s1 and s2 it will give
V/x + V/4x =V/30
5/4x=1/30
4x=150 minutes it means
slower tap alone will fill the tank in 150 minutes :)

ratio of speed of two tanks=1:4
so part of water filled in constant time will also be 1:4
means in 30 mins ta[1] filled 1/5 part n tap [2] filled 4/5 part..
so by unitary method...
ta[1] filled 1/5 part in 30 mins.
so to fill whole tank it el take 30*5=150 mins

let time taken by slower tap = t
then,time taken by faster tap = t/4
total time taken is given by 30 minutes.
1/t + 4/t = 1/30
5/t = 1/30
=> t = 150seconds

let faster tap can fill water tank in x min.
Then slower will fill in 4x min
now, a/c to ques,
both can fill in 30 min, 1 tank full
so, in 1 min they can fill 1/30 of the tank
again,
in x min faster can fill the tank full
so,in 1min it can fill 1/x of the tank
similarly, in 1 min slower can fill 1/4x of the tank
now,
1/x + 1/4x = 1/30
by solving,
x=6
hence slower can fill tank in 6*4=24 min

both togrther can fill in 30mins =(x*4x)/(x+4x)
=(4x^2)/5x
therefore,by calculating above eqn
4x=150mins
hence slower pipe takes 150mins to fill the tank alone.
