On a planet Oz there are 8 days in a week, Sunday to Saturday and another day called Oz day. There are 36 hrs in a day and each day has 90 minutes while each minute has 60 sec. As on earth the hour hand covers the dial twice every day. Find the approximate angle between the hands on clock on Oz when the time is 11:40 am
69 degrees, 86 degrees, 231 degrees, 51 degrees

Solution
36 hours a day means the clock will make a complete round in 18 hours.
18 hour covers 360 deg
Thus 1 hour covers 20 deg
11 hour covers 11*20=220 deg
now 1 hour = 90 min
thus in 90min the hour hand goes 20deg
so for 1min hr hand will go 2/9 deg
for 40 min hour hand will go (2/9)*40deg = 80/9deg = 9deg(approx)
thus hr hand will cover total of 220+9 = 229deg
now min hand covers =40*4deg = 160deg
(This is because 90min = 360deg implies 1min = 4deg)
Thus angle between these hands = (229-160)deg = 69deg

Archi was the son of the Nymph Thetis and Peleus, king of Myrmidons. Zeous and Poseidon had been rivals for the hand Thetis until from Prometheus, the fire bringer warned Zeous of a prophecy that Thetis would bear a son greater than his father. For this reason the 2 Gods withdrew their pursuit and had her wet Peleus. The following statement is another interesting prophecy about the ages of 2 children of Zeous that would hold true at some time during the life time of the children. 3 years ago Ethina's age was twice Hellena's age. 3 years hence Ethina's age will be 4/3 times the age of Hellena. Find Ethina's present age in binary numbers during the time that statements hold true?

Solution
let present age of Ethina is X year;
and present age of Hellena is Y year;
now 1st statement says: (X-3)=2(Y-3);
and 2nd statement says: (X+3)=4/3(Y+3);
hence solving these equations we get: X=9 and Y=6;
and hence Ethina's age will be in binary: 1001.
