A lady has fine gloves and hats in her closet- 18 blue- 32 red and 25 yellow. The lights are out and it is totally dark inspite of the darkness. She can make out the difference between a hat and a glove. She takes out an item out of the closet only if she is sure that if it is a glove. How many gloves must she take out to make sure she has a pair of each colour?
a) 50
b) 8
c) 60
d) 42

Solution
It is not given that how many of these items are gloves and how many are hats, if we consider that all the items are gloves then according to my opinion 32+25+2 = 59 gloves, she must take out to make sure she has a pair of each color. But closest option is 60 so it will be the answer

On planet korba, a solar blast has melted the ice caps on its equator. 9 years after the ice melts, tiny planetoids called echina start growing on the rocks. Echina grows in the form of circle, and the relationship between the diameter of this circle and the age of echina is given by the formula d = 4*[sqrt(t-9)] for t>9, where d represents the diameter in mm and t the number of years since the solar blast. Jagan recorded the radius of some echina at a particular spot as 7mm. How many years back did the solar blast occur?
a) 17 b) 21.25 c) 12.25 d) 14.05

Solution
Answer: (b) 21.25.
Explanation:
radius=7mm.
So dia= 14mm.
putting D=14 in equation we can easily calculate
t=21.25

A car manufacturer produces only red and blue models which come out of the final testing area completely at random. What are the odds that 5 consecutive cars of the same color will come through the test area at any one time?

a) 1 in 16
b) 1 in 125
c) 1 in 32
d) 1 in 25

Solution
The probability for the question will be 1/16 and answer of AMAR
First car can come out with any colour with prob 1.
second car will come out with probability of same color as 1/2.
third car will come out with probability of same color as 1/2.
4th car will come out with probability of same color as 1/2.
5th car will come out with probability of same color as 1/2.

so probability is 1*1/2* 1/2* 1/2 *1/2=1/16
is right but question is saying about odds and odds mean favorable probability/non favorable probability = (1/16)/(15/16) = 1/15
odds has two category 1) in favour 2) against
odds in favour = favorable probability/non favorable probability
odds against = non favorable probability/ favorable probability

If there are 30 cans out of them one is poisoned if a person tastes
very little he will die within 14 hours so if there are mice to test and
24 hours to test, how many mices are required to find the poisoned can?

Solution
If mouse would die exactly after 14 hrs then definitely 1 will be the answer but here the given condition says that mouse will die within 14 hrs.
so this question will be solved by set theory.
answer is following
total beer bottles = 6
drinking strategy
bottle1 : mouse1
bottle2 : mouse2
bottle3 : mouse3
bottle4 : mouse1 and mouse2
bottle5 : mouse2 and mouse3
bottle6 : mouse3 and mouse1
on the basis of death of mice set we can decide the poisoned bottle

in this question upto 2 bottle answer will be 1 because 2^1 = 2
similarly upto 4 bottles answer will be 2 because 2^2 = 4
for upto 8,16,32,64,128 bottles answer will be 3,4,5,6,7

ration if the final mixture is 35 liters, find the amount of b?

Solution
a:b=3:5=3*8:5*8=24:40
b:c=8:5=8*5:5*5=40:25
