36 people {a1, a2, ..., a36} meet and shake hands in a circular
fashion. In other words, there are totally 36 handshakes involving the
pairs, {a1, a2}, {a2, a3}, ..., {a35, a36}, {a36, a1}. Then size of the
smallest set of people such that the rest have shaken hands with at
least one person in the set is.

Solution
Answer 12 is correct.
because if we take person a1 in the set then it will cover a36 and a2 for shaking hand.similarly if we take person a4 in the set then it will cover a5 and a3 for shaking hand and so on, so minimum 12 persons are required to make shake hand with rest of the people complete

A lady has fine gloves and hats in her closet- 18 blue, 32 red, and 25 yellow. The lights are out and it is totally dark. In spite of the darkness, she can make out the difference between a hat and a glove. She takes out an item out of the closet only if she is sure that if it is a glove. How many gloves must she take out to make sure she has a pair of each color?
a)50 b)8 c)60 d)42

Solution
It is not given that how many of these items are gloves and how many are hats, if we consider that all the items are gloves then according to my opinion 32+25+2 = 59 gloves, she must take out to make sure she has a pair of each color. But closest option is 60 so it will be the answer

10 suspects are rounded by the police and questioned about a bank robbery. Only one of them is guilty. The suspects are made to stand in a line and each person declares that the person next to him on his right is guilty. The rightmost person is not questioned. Which of the following possibilities are true?
A. All suspects are lying or the leftmost suspect is innocent.
B. All suspects are lying and the leftmost suspect is innocent .
A only
B only
Neither A nor B
Both A and B

Solution
if first is victim then all suspects are lying. here you should remember that the rightmost person is not questioned.
If any of the person leaving leftmost is victim then the leftmost suspect is innocent. but "and" should not be used between the conditions because leftmost is not innocent necessarily.
Hence A only will be the answer

The pacelength P is the distance between the rear of two consecutive footprints. For men the formula n/P=144 gives approximate relationship between n and P, where n = number of steps per minute and P = pacelength in meters. Bernard knows his pacelength is 164cm. The formula applies to Bernard's walking. Calculate Bernard's walking speed in kmph.
23.24
11.39
8.78
236.16

Solution
n/P = 144 gives an approximate relationship between n and P where, n = number of steps per minute and P = pacelength in meters. Bernard knows his pacelength is 164cm.
Number of steps in one minute = 144*1.64
Distance travelled in 1 minute = 144*1.64*1.64 mtrs
Distance travelled in one hr = 144*1.64*1.64*60/1000 km = 23.24 km approx

(#M40001516) TCS QUESTION latest question Keep an EYE Keep an eye puzzle Keep an eye puzzle

Given a collection of points P in the plane, a 1-set is a point in P that can be separated from the rest by a line; i.e. the point lies on one side of the line while the others lie on the other side. The number of 1-sets of P is denoted by n1(P). The maximum value of n1(P) over all configurations P of 9 points in the plane is
a.10
b.9
c.3
d.5

Solution
The meaning of this question is little complicated. In easy language the question should be:

There are some points in the plane. We have to make a separation between these points by forming a line in such a way that one point could be separate from the others. No 3 points are in a line. Maximum no of methods for plotting the line and minimum no of methods for plotting the line will be (arrangement of points is your choice)

Now Answer Is:

For Maximize: The number of methods, Points should be drawn in the circumference of the CIRCLE So answer would be the number of total point in the plane.

For minimize: The number of methods we should draw 3 points in a TRIANGLE and all other point inside this triangle in such a way that no 3 points could be in a line.

If it will be allowed to draw the points in a line then minimum possibilities will be 2 only, because if we take all points in a line then you can separate only the corner points from the others.

For example
If we have 10 points then maximum possibilities = 10
and minimum = 3

similarly for 5 points
Max = 5, Min = 3

for 19
max= 19 Min = 3
