In "HEROHONDA" position of all odd placed letters in English alphabet are 8, 18, 8, 14, 1
and sum of all these numbers is 49, similarly position of all even placed letters in English alphabet
are 5, 15, 15, 4 and sum is 39
Difference of these two numbers is 49 - 39 = 10
Similarly for others

First pair up all alternate letters to obtain two sets of letters.

Take numerical positions of letters in english
alphabet. And find separate sum for both sets.

Take difference. There goes your answer.

For example, HEROHONDA = (HRHNA) and (EOOD)
Respective counts:
(HRNHA) = 8 + 18 + 14 + 8 + 1 = 49
(EOOD) = 5 + 15 + 15 + 4 = 39
Difference = 10

Similarly for others.

MARUTI = (MRT) and (AUI)
(MRT) = 13 + 18 + 20 = 51
(AUI) = 1 + 21 + 9 = 31
Difference = 20
So, MARUTI is coded as 20

Sum of letters in odd number position - sum of letters in even number position.
so, maruti= (m+r+t)-(a+u+i)=(13+18+20)-(1+21+9)=20
