Suresh got 88% in board examination of intermediate. His average in English and Hindi is 90%. Average of Physics, Chemistry and Hindi is 86%. Minimum marks in any subject is 80 and maximum 92. Out of 10 options given below which may be the marks in Hindi.

Solution

According to given conditions
p + c + m + e + h = 440
e + h = 180
b + c + h = 258
first and third equations give
m + e = 182
From fourth equation
90 is less than equal to m is less than equal to 92
90 is less than equal to e is less than equal to 92 and from second equation
88 is less than equal to h is less than equal to 90
So possibilities for hindi are 88 89 90

If E+H=180,Assume E=91,H=89.
P+C+H=258,Assume P=85,C=84,H=89.

(e+h)=90*2=180,,so e may lies between(88 and 92)------(i)
,(p+c+h)=86*3=258
(p+c+h+e+m)=88*5=440
(m+e)=440-258=182(e may lies between 90 and 92)-----(ii)
so from (i) and (ii) h may lies between (88 and 90);
only option present is 89 so option 8 is correct.

3 subjects have % 86(P,C,H) & Another 3 should Have 90%. So we have only two options 92 and 89 for H,E. Max to satisfy two conditions hindhi should be 89. 89 is the medium value.

so by these condition we get chance of hindi marks are 88,89,90,91 then we found ans that 89 in option
this is reason we chosen 8th option

by comparing the given conditions it is clear that percentage in hindi lies between 80-89
by the 1st condition hindi=89
