If I had one more sister I would have twice as many sisters as brothers. If I had one more brother I would have the same number of each. How many brothers and sisters have I?

let x be the number of sisters and
y the number of brothers:
x+ 1= 2y
y+ 1= x
Therefore, y + 1+ 1= 2y
so y =2
or x + 1= 2x - 2
so x = 3

if we increase 1 sister then sisters are twice as brother.

and if 1 more brother than there would be the exat number of them
this condition is satisfied by option 4

If number of sisters=x, brothers=y
x+1=2y, x-2y=-1 ---(i) &
x=y+1, x-y = 1 ---(ii)

My answer is option (4)
First condition: 3+1=(4/2) (i.e.,) (4 sis =2 bro)
It satifyies when one more sister is added "number of sister=2(number of brother).
Second condition: 3=2+1 (i.e.,) (3sis=3bro)
when one bother is added number of sister is equal to number of brother

if he had 3 sister and addition of 1 will make it to 4 sisters which twice of the no of brothers(I.e 2 bros) according to the question. If he had + 1 bro both will be equal I.e. 3 sis = 3 bro
