A bag contain 1-rupee, 50-paisa and 25-paisa coins in the ratio 5:6:7. If the total amount is Rs.780, find the number of coins of each kind.

Solution

Ratio of value of the coins 5/1 : 6/2 : 7/4 = 20:12:7
Value of 1 rupee coins = Rs.(780*20/39) = Rs.400
Value of 50-paise coins = Rs.(780*12/39) = Rs.240
Value of 20-paise coins = Rs.(780*7/39) = Rs.140
Therefore
Number of 1 Rupee coins = 400
Number of 50-paise coins = 240*2 = 480
Number of 25-paise coins = 140*4 = 560

let,no.of coins=x
then,
5x*100+6x*50+7x*25=78000
975x=78000
x=7800/975=80
so,
5x=5*80=400
6x=6*80=480
7x=7*80=560

let the number of 1 re coins = 5x
let the number of 50 p coins = 6x
let the number of 25 p coins = 7x

amount of 1 re coins = 5x
amount of 50 p coins = 3x
amount of 25 p coins = 7x/4

total amount = 780 rs

5x + 3x + 7x/4 = 780

(20x + 12x + 7x ) / 4 = 780

39x = 3120

x = 3120/39

x = 80

therefore
1 re coins = 5x
= 5 * 80
=400
50p coins = 6x
= 6* 80
= 480
25p coins = 7x
= 7*80
= 560

Sum of values = (500x/100 + 300x/100 + 175x/100) = 780
x=80
No. of 1-rupee coins = 5*80 = 400
No. of 50-paisa coins = 6*80 = 480
No. of 25-paisa coins = 7*80 = 560

Let the number of 1 rs (i.e 100 p), 50 p and 25 p coins be 5x,6x and 7x respectively.
then, sum of their values= {((100*5x)/100) + ((50*60x)/100) + ((25*7x)/100)}
= 975x/100
now,
=> 975x /100= 780
x=80
now,
5*80=400 coins
6*80=480 coins
7*80= 560 coins

if we take coins in the ratio of 5:6:7 then sum of coins in one pass is 1*5+0.5*6+0.25*7=9.75
total rupees=780
so 780/9.75=80
so we have to take coins 80 times so the no of coins of rupees 1 are 5*80=400
no of coins of 50 paise=6*80
no of coins of 25 paise=7*80=560

Let the number of 1Rs, 50ps, 25ps coins be 5x, 6x and 7x respectively.
then ,5x/1+6x/ 2+ 7x/ 4 = 780
40x+24x+14x=780× 8
78x= 6240
x= 6240/78

number of 1 rupee coin= 5 (80)= 400.
number of 50 ps coin= 6 (80)= 480.
number of 25ps coin=7(80)= 560.

after solving we get,
