In 2020, A would be 13 years older than B who would be seven times as old as C. Also, the total of the ages of A, B and C in 2019 would be 145 years. What is the average of A and B ages in 2022 ?

Solution

Total ages of A+B+C in 2019 = 145
Total ages of A+B+C in 2020 = 145 + 3 = 148 years

Let’s assume Age of B be B years
Age of A = B+13
Age of C = B/7

In 2020
Total age = B + 13 + B + B/7 = 148
Solving 15B/7 = 135
B = 63
A = B+13 = 76
C = 63/7 = 9

In 2022 - i.e. 2 years later
Age of A = 76+2 = 78
Age of B = 63+2 = 65

Average of ages = 71.5 years
