Shaktiman saw a criminal at a distance of 35m. When Shaktiman started chasing him the criminal also started running. If the ratio of Speeds of Shaktiman to Criminal is 12:11. Then how much distance did Shaktiman run to catch the Criminal?

Solution

Let the distance travlled by criminal before he is caught be x

Time taken by Shaktiman = Time taken by Robber

(35 + x)/12 = x/11
=> 11*35 + 11x = 12x
=> x = 385
Distance travelled by Shaktiman = 385+35 = 420m

let , speed of shaktiman and criminal are respectively, 12k and 11k.
total time to catch criminal=35/k
in this time shaktiman run=35/k*12k=420m

Let x be the distance travelled by the criminal before getting caught.
So, x/11= (35+x)/12.
X= 385.
So, distance of Shaktiman is (385+35) = 420.

The answer will be 420...when the shaktiman runs 420m then criminal runs 385m...so th difference will be 35m

Let the speed of Shaktiman and Criminal be 12x and 11x respectively
Let Shaktiman catches Criminal after t time
For Criminal, t = d/11x ------------ (i)
and
For Shaktiman, t = d+35 / 12x -----------(ii)
On solving (i) and (ii), we get d = 385 m
Distance covered by Shaktiman to catch the criminal = d + 35 = 385 + 35 = 420m
