A vendor bought 110 toffees for 330 rupees. How many toffees in 330 rupees must he sell to gain 25%?

Solution

CP of 1 toffees = 330/110 = Rs. 3
SP of 1 toffees for 25% profit = 3*1.25 = Rs. 3.75
So in 330 Rupees number of toffees to be sold = 330/3.75 = 88

If he want to get 25% then he must sell 1 toffee to 3/100*125 = 3.75
Number of toffees in 330 rupees at 25% gain is = 330/3.75 = 88

To gain 25 %, Selling Price should be = (125/100)*330 = 412.5
Let x chocolates be sold for Rs. 412.5
110 chocolates sold for 330 rs
x chocolates sold for 412.5 rs
CP = 330x SP = 412.5*110=45375
According to the question, (45375-330x)/330x =1/4
On solving, x=110
Thus for 412.5 rs vendor has to sell 110 chocolates
for 330 rs vendor will have to sell (110/412.5)*330 = 88 chocolates
