(120+L)/10 should be the velocity of the train and it is equal to L/6 ; (120 +L )= 10L/6; 720+6L =10L ; 720=4L; L=180 m.

speed of train = (T+120)/10 = T/6

solving this , we get . T= 180 m

Speed = Distance /Time
Let x be length of the train.
Speed of train when crossing the platform S=(x+120)/10
Speed of the train when crossing the pole S=x/6
On equating both
(x+120)/10=x/6
>>> x =180

let the length of the train be l.therefore, it crosses 120+l metre in 10 sec,and l metre in 6 sec. solving, we get length of the train as 180 m.

A train crossing a pole is to travel its length.
Time taken to cross the length of the train and the length of the platform= 10 sec.
Time taken to cross the length of the train =6 sec.
So, time taken to cross the length of the platform= 10-6= 4 sec.
Distance travelled in 4 sec.= Length of the platform= 120 m.
So, distance travelled in 1 sec.= (120/4)= 30 m.
Therefore, length of the train= Distance travelled in 6 sec.= 30*6= 180 m...... Option 7)
