Raghunandan has built a cubical water tank with lid for his apartment with each outer edge equal to 1.5 m. He gets the outer surface of the tank including the base, covered with square italian tiles of side 25 cm. Find how much he would spend on tiles if the cost of tile is Rs 7200 per dozen?

Solution

The edge of the tank = 1.5m = 150cm

Then,

Surface area of the tank excluding lid = 5 x 150^2 =

Area of each title = 25^2

Number of tiles required = 5* 150*150/(25*25) = 180

Cost of 12 tiles = 7200
Cost of 1 tile = 7200/12 = 600

Therefore, the cost of 180 tiles = 180 x 600 = 108000
