for 5 and 8 years respectively, and amount contributed by A is 8 lacs, then contribution by B in lacs is

Amount (in lacs) * Time for A = 8*5 = 40
Amount (in lacs) * Time for B = x*8 = 8x
Now according to the given condition (40/8x) = 5/4

Corresponding amt Contributed by A ( if considered in 1 year ) = 8*5=40 lacs.

For 5:4 ratio of profit, Corresponding amt Contributed by B ( if considered in 1 year )= 40*4/5 = 32 lacs.
Corresponding amt Contributed by B ( if considered in 8 year )= 32/8=4 lacs

Let the contribution of B be P, profits of A and B be I1 and I2, respectively, and rate of interest be r.
Then, I1= (800000*r*5)/100= 40000r
and I2= (P*r*8)/100,
or, P*r= 100I2/8
Now, I1/I2= 5/4
or, I1= (5/4)I2
40000r= I1= (5/4)I2
or, r= (5I2)/(4*40000)= I2/32000.
Therefore, P*(I2/32000)= (100I2)/8
