The length of a rectangle doormat is twice its breadth. If its length is decreased by 15cm and breadth is increased by 15 cm, the area of the rectangle is increased by 275sq. cm. Find the length of the rectangle.

Solution

Let breadth = x.
Then, length = 2x
Then, (2x -15) (x + 15) - 2x * x = 275
30x – 15x- 225= 275
15x = 500
x = 33.33
Length of the rectangle = 2x = 66.66 cm.
