Dinesh was curious to know the angle between the hour and minute hands of a clock, so when he see 10:10 in a clock he calculates the shorter angle between the hands. Which of the following time will also make same angle between the hour and minute hand as calculated by Dinesh ?

Solution

At 10:10, minor angle between hour and minute hand = 120 - 10*(30/60) = 115°
Similarly minor angles of given times are
9:05 = 117.5°
5:50 = 125°
2:35 = 132.5°
8:05 = 147.5°
3:40 = 130°
6:10 = 125°
7:10 = 155°
1:50 = 115°
4:40 = 100°
Therefore, at 1:50 angle between hour and minute hand will be 115° which is same as the angle at time 10:10

The angle at 10:10
=10*30-10*5.5=300-55=245°
As it is more than 180°
The angle between the hands=360-245=115°
At 1:50
50*5.5-1*30=245°
The angle between the hands=360-245=115°
