The only possible integral solution would be
Cost of 1 book = 10
Cost of 1 pen = 8

Then cost of 1 book is Rs 10 and cost of 1 pen is Rs 8.

Then sum of cost of 1 book and 1 pen is 10+8=18.

The cost of 13 books and 15 pens is 250 rupee. If cost of both the items are integers, then cost of book can be Rs 5 or Rs 10 or Rs 15.
Checking all 3 possible combinations for integer value of cost of pen , we get that
cost of book =Rs 10 and
cost of pen = Rs 8.
Then sum =10+8=18

Simple Mathematics Trick... Here we are going to solve the eqn. by multiplying the 2nd eqn (p+q) by either 13 or 15.
So the odd nos from the options are wont come. because it produces decimal number....
And then, the values 20 and 24 are produces the negative values,
So, the "18" produces the accurate solution....

if we take book cost as rs.10 and pen cost as rs.8 then the total becomes 250. which is equal to the given amount.
13 books X 10 = 130
15 pens X 8 = 120

Total = 250.
--------------------
so the sum of cost of 1 book and 1 pen will be 10 + 8 = 18

By using trail and error method we can get the cost of 1 Book is 10 rupee and the cost of one pen is 8 rupee
