Sum of a natural number x and its reciprocal is equal to the ratio of product of two numbers first 2 more than the number x, second 1 less than the number x and the number x. x is

Solution

According to the given condition
x + (1/x) = (x-1)(x+2)/x
or (x^2 + 1)/x = (x^2 + x -2)/x
or 1 = x-2
or x = 3

x+(1/x)=((x+2)(x-1)/x)
(x^2+1)/x=((x+2)(x-1)/x)
cancel x from both side
(x^2)+1=x^2-x+2x-2
cancel x^2 from both side
1=x-2
x=3(option 4)

x^2+1=x^2+x-2
