An old man distributed his bank balance of 60 lacs among three of his children. The eldest one was his daughter and other two were boys. He distributed his money in such a way that daughter got half as many lacs as her age whereas boys got lacs equal to their ages respectively. If difference of the ages between the children is 5, then sum of their ages will be

Solution

according to the given condition
x/2 + y + z = 60
and x - y = 5, y - z = 5
on solving we will get x = 30, y = 25, z = 20

then,(x/2)+(x-5)(x-10)=60
5x/2=75
x=30
sum of age=30+25+20=75
