Solution

According to the given condition
either 10x+5(x+1)=125
or 10(x+1)+5x=125
in one of the two cases x is not integer, so solve the other x=8
so answer = 8+9 = 17

Let us assume that, 8 and 9 (two successive int)

therefore 10x+5(x+1)=125......A or
10(x+1)+5x=125......B

BY eqn. A x=8 & B=7.66(not a intger)
so the total cost of 1 coy & 1 pen is 8+9=17

given cost per unit is succesive integer. and 10 copies n 5 pens total cost is 125
Let per copy unit price=x n per pen unit price=y;
i.e 10x+5y=125
as x and y are consecutive integers.
so by trial n error method we can get x=8 n y=9
I.e per copy cost is 8 and per pen cost is 9.
So the total cost of 1 copy and 1 pen is =8+9=17.

therefore cost of 1 pen is (X+1)
now total cost = 10X + 5(X+1) i.e 125
=> 10X + 5(X+1) = 125
=> X = 8
so cost of 1 copy = Rs.8
and cost of 1 pen = Rs.9
So required total cost = Rs.17

hence 10 copies and 5 pens cost is 125
let the cost of 1 copy be x rs and pen is x+1 rs.
10x+5(x+1)=125

15x=120;
x=8;
