let loss in 1st race be x then
loss in 2nd race=x+6
so, x+x+6=68
x=31
loss in 2nd race=31+6=37
amount lost by friend=37+4=41
ans: 41

since second race loss is 6 more than first
first race loss is 68-6/2=31
so second race loss is 37
friend lost 4 more than his companion in second race
so loss in second race by friend = 37+4=41

T.Loss/2=68/2=34

6/2=3
add and subtrct 3 to each other such that we can get 1st and 2nd race(as mentioned in the qn that 2nd race is 6 greater than 1st)

now friend's loss is 4 greater than 2nd race of me

Suppose loss in first race be x. than loss in second race will be x+6
Now total loss in both the races is x+x+6=68
From this loss in first race i.e. x becomes 31
so in second race will be 37
Now as friend lost 37+4=41

Ans is 41

Let x+6 be the amount lost in second race

x+(x+6) = 68
Means x=31 i.e. in second race he lost 37.

hence his friend lost rs 41
