Let x nd y be the no. of parrots nd cages respectively
Then
y = x/4 + 1 --->(1)

x = 3y + 1
y = (x-1)/3 --->(2)

Equating (1) nd (2),
We get x = 16, y = 5

No. of parrots = 16
No. of cages = 5

Let x = no. of parrots
y = the cages respectively
Then
y = x/4 + 1 --->(1)

x = 3y + 1 -----> (2)
from (2)
y = (x-1)/3 --->(3)
Equating (1) and (3),
x/4 + 1=(x-1)/3
3(x+4)= 4(x-1)
3x+12=4x-4
16=x
put x=16 in equation (1)
y = 16/4 + 1 =4+1=5
therefore x = 16, y = 5
Answer :
No. of parrots = 16
No. of cages = 5
