4000 rs as let total salary be x ;; then 45% on food = (100-45)/100 ;; 20% on books (100-20)/100 ;; half on expense (100-50)/50 ;; total amount is (100-45)/100 *(100-20)/100*(100-50)/100 X = 880 ;; 55/100*80/100*50/100 X= 880 ;; X= 880*100*100*100 /(55*80*50) ;; X= 4000

monthly stipend=5028.57
let the stipend be x,den total 65%(45+20)is spend on food and books
den the remaining amount=x-0.65x=0.35x
now half of the remaining amount is spend on expense and half left with him i,e
half remaining amount=0.35x/2=880(given)
x=5028.57
