There are seventy clerks working in a company, of which 30 are females. Also, 30 clerks are married; 24 clerks are above 25 years of age; 19 married clerks are above 25 years, of which 7 are males; 12 males are above 25 years of age; and 15 males are married. How many bachelor girls are there and how many of these are above 25?

Distribution
Total clerk = 70, Male = 40, Female = 30,
Married clerks = 30, Male = 15, Female = 15,
25 plus married clerks = 19, Male = 7, Female = 12,
25 plus clerks = 24, Male = 12, Female = 12,
25 plus unmarried clerks = 5, Male = 5, Female = 0
so Bachelor girls = 15, none of them is above 25

sqrt(x)+y=11.
x+sqrt(y)=7.
both the equations are satisfied witn x=4 & y=9...
I want to know how will it calculate.

Solution

sqrt(x)+y=11, sqrt(y)+x=7
on subtracting we find [sqrt(x)-sqrt(y)]-[x-y]=4
or [sqrt(x)-sqrt(y)][1-sqrt(x)-sqrt(y)]=4
on putting the value of sqrt(y) from second equation, we find
[x+sqrt(x)-7][x-sqrt(x)-6]=4
or x^2-14x+sqrt(x)+38=0
or [x^2-4x]-[10x-sqrt(x)-38]=0
or x[sqrt(x)+2][sqrt(x)-2]-[sqrt(x)-2][10x-19]=0
or sqrt(x)-2=0
or x=4
