In a room of dimensions l*b*h = 16*14*12, bricks of dimensions 6*4*2 are placed in such a way that the room is occupied completely. Total number of bricks in a layer on the floor is :-

Solution

On the basis of dimensions of brick it is necessary to place the brick in the room in such a way that
l = 4
b = 2
h = 6
( If we place the brick in any other manner then it is not possible to fill the room completely)
Now area of floor = 16*14 = 224
And area of brick = 4*2 = 8
Hence Number of bricks = 224/8 = 28

Volume of room=16*14*12 unit^3
Total bricks occupied=(16*14*12)/(6*4*2)=56
Height of 12 units can be covered with either brick height=2,4 or 6 units.
For the height of 12 unit,if brick is placed with height of 2 unit,then 6 layers will be there.But division 56/6 is not possible.
If brick is placed with height of 4 units, then 3 layers will be there,but division 56/3 is not possible.
If brick is placed with height of 6 unit,it can form 2 layers, so number of bricks on the floor=56/2=28

Volume of the room is l*b*h=16*14*12 = 2688
Volume of the brick is 6*4*2=48
No of bricks required is 2688/48 = 56
Height of the brick is 2 therefore the number of brick in a layer is 56/2 or 28 so option 8 is correct

Bricks should be arranged on the floor in such a way that length of brick becomes 4 and width of brick becomes 2.

in 16-14-12 place bricks verticalli as 4-2-6
it forms two layers ie is 12/6
it require 4 bricks along length 16 on 16/4
it require 7 bricks along bredth 14/2

so 7*4=28 bricks in layer 1 ie bottom layer
