A seller purchases the green colour of HOLI from two dealers, 5 kg. from a dealer at a rate of 60 rupee per kg. and 7 kg. from other dealer at a rate of 80 rupee per kg. If he sells the colour after mixing, then its selling rate for getting a profit of 20 % will be

Cost of 5 kg. green colour of HOLI is 60*5 = 300
Cost of 7 kg. green colour of HOLI is 80*7 = 560
Total cost of 12 kg. green colour of HOLI is 300 + 560 = 860
For getting 20 % profit, seller has to receive 860 * 1.2 = 1032 rupee
Hence cost of the colour is 1032/12 = 86

thus we get (80-x)/(x-60)=5:7
then by solving we get x the mixture price as 215/3

amount spent for buying 5 kg colour at the rate of 60 =60×5
=Rs300

similarly from 2nd dealer
amount spent for buying 7 kg colour at the rate of 80 =80×7 = Rs 560

total amount spent for buying 12 kg of colours =Rs(300+560)=Rs860

so , according to the question,
20 percent of Rs 860=
( 20×860)/100 = Rs 172

new total amount spent for buying 12 kg colour =Rs (172+860) =Rs 1032

so , for selling price of1 kg colour=Rs 1032/12 =Rs 86

The mixture of the color powder after mixing weighs 12 KG.
That 12 KG mixture has
5:7 ratio.
So,
5x + 7x = 100 (%)
12x = 100
x = 100/12
x = 8.33
then,
5 * 8.33 = 41.67(% of 100%)
7 * 8.33 = 58.33(% of 100%)
If one kg
costs Rs.60 then 41.67% of that one kg costs Rs. 25
If one kg
costs Rs. 80 then 58.33% of that one kg costs Rs. 46.66
Then the 1KG of the mixed color costs
25 + 46.66 = Rs. 71.66
To get 20% profit,
For that, let 'r' be the selling price with 20% profit.
120/100 = r/71.66
r = (120 * 71.66)/100
r = 8599.2/100
r = 85.992
For prices up to two decimal place is enough.
So, r = 85.99
