8 woman and 12 men complete a certain piece of work in 9 days. Each woman takes twice the time taken by a man to finish the work. In how many days will 12 men finish the same work

therefore, 8 woman + 12 man = 4 man + 12 man = 16 man

Each woman takes twice the time taken by a man to finish the work means that work done by 2 women is equivalent to the work done by 1 man.
So 8 women's work = 4 men's work, i.e. 16 men completed the work in 9 days then time required by 12 men
=(16*9)/12

1/w=2/m and (8/w)+(12/m)=1/9
So (8/2m)+(12/m)=1/9 or 1/m=1/144

We can write an equation,
8w+12m=1/9
But one woman performs half work as that of a man .
So, w=m/2
Substituting this in previous equation and solving we get m as,
m=1/(9*16)
so for one man to complete the work it takes (9*16) DAYS...
12 men performs 12m work per day....
=> 12m=12/(9*16)=1/12
Therefore it takes 12 days for 12 men to complete the work.
