Ramesh says to his son Girish, "My age was two years more than 7 times of your's age before 30 and 1/2 a year and after 2 and 1/2 a year, my age will be twice of yours age of 1/2 a year before". What will be the age of Girish after 12 and 1/2 a year.

Solution

Let the present ages of father and son are "x" and "y" respectively.
According to the first condition given
(x - 30.5) = 7 ( y - 30.5 ) + 2 (i)
According to the second condition given
(x + 2.5) = 2 ( y – 0.5) (ii)
On solving these equations we get the solution.

Let's present age of Girish is x years
and present age of Ramesh is y years.
30.5 years ago,
7(x-30.5)+2=y-30.5................(i)
After 2.5 years,
(y+2.5)=2(x-0.5).....................(ii)
simplify (ii), we get
y=2x-3.5.................................(iii)
Now put value of Y from (iii) in to (i)
7(x-30.5)+2=(2x-3.5)-30.5
7x-213.5+2=2x-34
5x=177.5
x=35.5
present age of girish is 35 & 1/2 years
35.5+12.5=48 years
after 12.5 years girish age will be 48 years

then,
30.5 yrs ago
fathers age=x-30.5 yrs
sons age=y-30.5 yrs

x-30.5=7(y-30.5)+2
on simplification
7y-x=181.....(1)

after 2.5 yrs
fathers age=x+2.5 yrs

before 0.5 yrs
sons age=y-0.5 yrs

therefore x+2.5=2(y-0.5)
on simplification
2y-x=3.5.....(2)

solving equation (1)&(2),
x=67.5 & y=35.5

hence Girish's after 12.5 yrs=(35.5+12.5)=48 years

after 2 + 1/2 yrs x+33 2(x+30)

x+30+(1/2)+2+(1/2) : 7x+2+30+(1/2)+2+(1/2) = x+33 : 2(x+30)
by solving this , x =5
girish age after 12 n 1/2 yrs = 5+30+(1/2)+12+(1/2)
= 48 yrs :-)

Let the present age of Ramesh & Girish be x & y respectively
(x-30.5)-2=7(y-30.5)
=> x-32.5=7y-213.5
=>x-7y=-181 ------------>(i)
Now,
x+2.5=2(y-0.5)
=>x+2.5=2y-1
=> x-2y=-3.5 -------------->(ii)
on solving (i) & (ii),
y=35.5
So,the age of Girish after 12 and 1/2 a year=(35.5+12.5)years
=48 years

R - 61/2 = 7*(G-61/2)+2
after 2 and 1/2 year,
R+ 5/2 = 2*(G-1/2)

if we equate r from both equation then
G =71/2
after 12 and 1/2 year it will be 48 years

Let ramesh current age of ramesh=x & girish =y

then x-30.5=7(y-30.5)+2 eqn (1)

i.e. x= 7y-181

eqn (2) will x+2.5=2(y-0.5)
=> x+2.5 =2y-1
=> x= 2y-3.5

from both eqn-
7y-181=2y-3.5
=>5y=177.5 or y = 35.5 (current age of girish)

35.5 +12.5 =48 is ans....option 6

the 1st equ is (x-61/2)=7(y-61/2)+2...equ(1)
2nd equ is (x+5/2)=2(y-1/2)....equ(2)
calculating this two equ we get y=35 years and 1/2 of a years..
so after 12 years and 1/2 of a years , girish age will be 48 years

Let 30 (1/2)yrs before r=7g+2,
So present ages are r+30(1/2), g+30(1/2).
After 2(1/2) yrs Ramesh age will be r+33, before 1/2 year age of girish be g+30
Now we get r+33=2(g+30),
r=2g+27, from the two eq obtain that are r=7g+2, r=2g+27 we get g=5, so present age of girish is35(1/2) yrs, after 12 (1/2) yrs he will be at 48.

Let Girish's age be x and Ramesh's age be y.
According to 1st condition,
(y-30.5)=7(x-30.5)+2
=> y=7x-181___________equation 1
According to 2nd condition,
y+2.5=2(x-0.5)
=> y=2x-3.5_____________equation 2
So solving equation 1 and 2 simultaneously we get,
7x-181=2x-3.5
=> x=35.5
After 12.5 years = 35.5+12.5=48

putting vof y :

7(x-30.5)+2=(2x-3.5)-30.5
5x=177.5

Present age of Girish be a yrs and that of Ramesh be b yrs.
30 and 1/2 yrs ago,
7(a-30.5)+ 2=b-30.5
After 2 and 1/2 yrs,
b+2.5= 2(a-0.5)
on solving,
x=35.5
Therefore present age of girish is 35 yrs and 1/2 yrs
35.5+12.5=48 yrs
and after 12.5 years girish will be 48 yrs old.
