A shopkeeper buys a Printer set listed at Rs.10000 and get 10% and 20% successive discount. He spends 10% of his C.P. on transport. At what price (in rupees) should he sell the Printer set to earn a profit of 10%.

Net price after two discount
= 80% of 90% of Rs. 10000 = Rs.7200
Net C.P. = (7200 + 10% of Rs. 7200) = 7920

therefore total price the shopkeeper spent = Rupees 7920
now say at Rupees x shopkeeper sold it,
so,
x=(7920*10)/100 + 7920 = Rupees 8712

Total C.P = 10/100*20/100-20/10000=7200rs
now he spends 10 per centof his C.P on transport

after 10% discount the buying rate becomes=9000
again 20% successive discount= 9000*(20/100) =1800

10% of transport charge is=7200*(10/100)

total buying rate of shopkeeper=7200+720=7920
the selling rate of shopkeeper to get 10% discount on "7920" is=7920*(10/100)+7920

but after 10% discount its price = 10,000 - 1000 = rs 9,000
again after 20 % discount on rs 9000 its price = 9,000 - 1800 = 7200

and he spends 10% of cost price on transport = 10% on rs 7200 = rs 720

so total Cost Price = rs ( 7200 + 720) = rs 7920

so Sales Price = (100 + gain %) * C.P /100
= (100 + 10 %) *7920 / 100
= ( 110* 7920 ) / 100

where x and y are successive discounts.

therefore, final price of printer =7200
adding transportation costs i.e. 10% of 7200+7200=7920
now using formula
cp=100/(100+profit%) *sp
cp=7920 profit %=10%
therefore, sp=8712

Transportation charge 10%
CP is 7200+720=7920

And applying successive discount of 20%,C.P is 7200.
