Beaker A consists of sugar and water mixes in ratio 5:3 and beaker B has the same mixture in ratio 2:3. These 2 mixtures are mixed to form a new mixture containing half sugar and half water, they must be taken in ratio:

Solution

Reason-
Sugar in A = 5/8 of whole, sugar in B=⅖ of whole, sugar in mixture of A and B is 1/2 .
By alligation rule , (mix in A): (mix in B )= 1/10 : 1/8 = 4:5.

Let the mixtures are X,Y
Ratios are 5:3, 2:3
Sugar content in the resultant = (5X/8) + (2Y/5)
Water content in the resultant =( 3X/8) +(3Y/5)
Given (5X/8) + (2Y/5) =( 3X/8) +( 3Y/5)
25X + 16Y = 15X + 24Y
10X = 8Y
X/Y =4/5
X:Y =$:5
Hence my option is 1

let x units be taken from A & y units from B, then
contribution of sugar from A = x*5/8
from B = y*2/5
contribution of water from A = x*3/8
from B = y*3/5
since the resulting solution has equal quantities of both
therefore,
total contribution of water = total contribution of sugar
==> x*5/8 + y*2/5 = x*3/8 + y*3/5
solving this gives " x : y " == " 4 : 5 " ----->option { 1 } answer

beaker A = 5:3
beaker B= 2:3
mixutre = 1/2:1/2
sugar in beaker A= 5/8
sugar in beaker B= 2/5
sugar in mixture = 1/2
applying allegation we will get 4:5

In beaker A, sugar=5/8, water=3/8
in beaker B, sugar=2/5, water=3/5
Comparing the mixtures in both the beakers=> Beaker A contains, sugar=25/40, water=15/40 and
Beaker B contains, sugar=16/40, water=24/40.
So equivalent ratio of sugar and water in beaker A and B are 25:15 and 16:24
Let the mixtures in beaker A and B are mixed in the ratio x:y to get half sugar and half water (i.e. in the ratio 1:1), then 25x+16y = 15x+24y or 10x=8y or x/y=4/5

milk in new mixture is 1/2
by applying alligation rule we get
(5/8)-(1/2)=(1/8) is mixture in B
(1÷2)-(2/5)=(1÷10) is mixture in A
A:B=(1÷10):(1/8)=4:5
