Find the number of tiles, each measuring 20 cm x 14 cm x 6 cm, required to construct a wall 20 m long, 10 m high and 70cm thick. IF 10% of the wall is filled with mortar?

Solution

Volume of the wall to be constructed = (2000 x 1000 x 70) cm³
Volume of the tiles = 90% of the volume of the wall
= (90/100 x 2000 x 1000 x 70) cm³
Volume of 1 tile = (20 x 14 x 6) cm³
Hence the numbers of tiles are required
= [ 90/100 (2000x1000x70)/(20x14x6)]
=75000
