The sum of the ages of Anup and his father is 100. When Anup will be as old as his father now, Anup will be 5 times as old as his son Anuj is now. Anuj will be eight years older than Anup is now, when Anup is as old as his father is now. What are their ages now ?

according to the given conditions
let age of Anup is a and that of father is (100-a)
according to the first condition
100-a = 5b
and on the basis of second condition [a-b]+8 = [(100-a)-a]
so b = 13 and a = 35
so answer is 13, 35, 65

Let age of Anup is x yrs

thus, Father's age= (100-x)

Anuj's age = (100-x)/5

Eq. 1 (Translating 2nd last line#)

(100-x)-x+(100-x)/5=x+8

600-11x=5x+40

16x=540

x =35 yrs

age of Anup is 35 yrs

age of Anuj is 13yrs

age of Anup's father is 65yrs

Let the present ages (in years) of Anup’s father, Anup and Anuj be x, (100 – x) and respectively.
Difference between Anup’s father and Anup’s ages (in years) = x – (100 – x) = x – 100 + x = 2x –

2x – 100 years later, Anup will be x years old and 5 times old as Anuj is now.
X = 5y
y = x/5 -----------(i)
When Anup is x yr old,then Anuj will be y +(2x-100)yrs old and 8yrs older than Anup is now
Therefore y + (2x-100) = (100 – x ) + 8 -------------(ii)
On putting y = x/5 from (i) we get
X = 65 yrs
So Anup’s fathers age = 65 yrs, Anup’s age = 100-65 = 35 yrs , Anuj ages = x/5 = 65/5
= 13 yrs

suppose fa, an and as denotes father's age,anup's age and anuj's age. Then according to the question, we have

an + fa =100
an+(fa-an)=5(as)
as+(fa-an)=an+8

solving these three equations, we get
fa=65
an=35 and
as=13

If we take option 3, Anup's father is 65 and Anup is 35. When Anup is 65 his son is 13. 13*5 =65

Anup will be of 65 years after 30 years
