Let the cost price of toy be Rs. x. Then
Gain x% = Rs (x*(x/100)) = Rs.. x^2/100
Now SP = CP + Gain
24 = x+(x^2/100)
Put the value and solve
then ans is in quadratic for

x=(24-x)/x*100
x^2=(24-x)100
x^2+100x-2400=0
x^2+120x-20x-2400=0
(x+120)(x-20)=0
x+120=0 or x-20=0
x=-120 or x=20
Since CP cannot be negative value
x=20

Let X be the Real cost of the Toy which has been sold by a seller on Rs 24.
so, X+(X*X%)=24
=>X+X^2/100=24
=>100X+X^2=2400
=>X^2+100X-2400=0
=>(X-20)(X+120)=0
X=20 and X=-120 But -120 is not possible
ans is 20 i.e option 5.
Check:
20 + 20 of 20% = 20+4 = 24.
