We apologies for the mistake in the puzzle of 27th Oct. and would consider Option 1 to be correct and would grant points accordingly.

we would give 1 bonus point to all those who have given correct logic as compentation for the mistake.

Unbelievable !

How the given logic can be accepted ?
The logic should satisfy all the given examples.

As only composite and non composite number satisfies all examples and according to that , option 1 should be correct,

It should be considered as only acceptable answer.

Dear Admin,

As has been mentioned by many people, the given answer for yesterday's puzzle isn't correct. To me my logic sounded correct in which code is formed by (number of primes and of "digit 1")/remaining number of characters. '1' not being the prime number, has to be included in the logic as an addition to the counting of prime numbers.

Without inteding to sound fussy about it, I would like to mention that earlier as well, in my 8th October post, I have given a correct alternative solution. Like some others who get points for the correct alternative for solution, my answer should also be considered.

I agree with SUJIT, SURAJ, PRIYATOSH, DOLLY and MAYUR.

To err is human but others should not be punished to benefit others who have given wrong answer.

So only option 1 should be considered correct.

For previous day puzzle
CODE FOR LOYE

The logic given was based on ODD/Even position of letters in the word.

But this is not correct in case of SIJM... 2/2.
If someone can find 2 even numbers in SIJM = 19 9 10 13, then it is cruel joke on mathematics.
The mistake may be due to some typing error at some stage while deciding/posting the puzzle on site, but the logic given by the persons giving correct ans as option 3 may come forward to give suitable logic to satisfy all codes .

Otherwise admin and everyone concerned should gracefully accept option 1 as correct answer which satisfies the logic of composite and non composite numbers .

Code for SIJM . . 2/2 does not satisfy the logic of odd/even.
Only logic of composite & non composite iis matching & then option 1 shoud be correct.

how can SIJM be 2/2
if we go through the logic given today in the explanation, SIJM will become 3/1

So i completely agree with Sujit and request M4Maths Admin to change the answer and the logic :)
Thank u

Dear Admin

For puzzle of dt 27 oct
the reason submitted was

"Positions of X, M, A & T in English alphabet are 24, 13, 1 & 20.
Two numbers are odd and two numbers are even, hence code is 2/2
Similarly positions of L, O, Y & E in English alphabet are 12, 15, 25, 5
Three numbers are odd and 1 is even, hence code is 3/1.
"

But if we apply the same logic to SIJM = 19 9 10 13 odd/even = 3/1
But in the qn it is given 2/2
Kindly check the answer given by me and explain the SIJM concept.

I think that the answer would be prime/composite = option#1

Hello sujit. your logic for 20 oct puzzle was=>

in 4216 -- 4+2+6= 12= 1+2 = 3
in all the sums just cancel the 3rd digits and add the numbers to get a single digit number

It was a good logic so we can consider it as a unique solution. and we are giving you 11 points for your Logic.
Thanks

In today's puzzle<20 Oct> we can solve it by another way also

delete the third digit of every number and add the remaining digits... if the result is a 2 digit number, then again add the two digits to get a single digit...
check this out.. this is valid for the three given conditions.

I think there were 2 unique solutions and hence both the answers should be considered.

Yes combination of only one coin of any type is also to be counted.
and this is mentioned in the question
It is compulsory to select any one of the coin.

How many combinations are possible if 3 one rupee coin, 4 fifty paise coin and 2 twenty five paise coin are available. It is compulsory to select any one of the coin.

The question is not clear.
Whether various combinations of coins are required or possible combination of amount made by selecting different combination of coins??

Also it is not clear whether combination with atleast one coin of each type is required or combination of only one coin of any type is also to be counted.

In general, what if there are multiple valid ways of solving a puzzle, and each may lead to a unique answer?

e.g. yestedays's puzzle
If in a coded language 6^3 =15 4^2 =14 8^4 =16
Then 9^5 = ?
OPTIONS 16 10 19 12 14 13 15 17 18 11

There is even simpler way to get a unique answer here than what was mentioned officially.

Difference in the digits on RHS = Difference in the digits on LHS +1

This gives 16 as an answer.

This (or for that matter any other) answer can be regarded as wrong only when it is not unique.

There should be two buttons of submit. One for the answer and one for the reason. Because to write the reason it take some time which is the major cause for the delay in the answer submit due to which a candidate get less score in comparison to the direct submit of the answer

I also do agree with Dolly that change in ans. should be allowed.

but no negative mark;
do only that ANYone cand change his/her answer option and submit;
and mark will be given on the base of last ans and time.

ok; we can restrict freq. change by negative mark if someone change freq.
i.e. if change >= 3 -1 Marks;
if change >= 5 -2 Marks; likewise
