The first ratio =2:3:4
Let the engineers are=2x,3x,4x
After joining 12 in each group ratio=8:11:14
Let they are 8y,11y,14y
Now 2x+12=8y,. 3x+12=11y subtracting from the other X=3y
2*3y+12=8y=>y=6,X=18
The teams are =36,54,72
After joining they are =48,66,84

Johny participated in a swimming competition. He swam in a river at an effective speed of 6 Kilometers/hr. The rate of the stream against Johny is measured to be 3 Kilometers/hr. Now, by how much percentage his effective speed will increase assuming Johny swims in the direction of the stream.

lets assume upstream speed 6 km/hr...
speed of the stream given= 3 km/hr
by the formulae , speed of the stream = 1/2 [ speed of the down stream -speed of the upstream]
3 = 1/2 [ x-6]
x= 12
effective % =[ [12-6]/6] *100
=100%
