222.22 m.
Relative speed of the cars=60+40=100 km/hr=100000 m/3600 sec.
So distance covered in 8 sec=8*100000/3600 =2000/9=222.22 m.

let the distance between the car = d
let the car coming from opposite meets them at time = t1 and t2
so according to question, t1-t2=8sec
and relative speed of cars= 60+40= 100km/hr (since they are driving in opposite direction so their speeds will add)
thus distance d = speed * time = 100km/hr* 8 sec = 100*(5/18)m/sec * 8 sec =1000/9(m/sec)*8 = 222.22m

Relative speed of two cars=60+40=100km/hr(since both cars in opposite direction)
so 100*(5/18)=250/9 m/s.
diatance travelled by car to catch another car=8s
so distance=250/9*(8s)=222.22 meters

relative speed of both cars in opposite direction= 40+60=100km/hr,
so, d/100=8/(3600),
d=0.22222 km or 222.22 m Ans.

Ans : 222.22 m
Relative speed : 100km/h (it is speed seen by the person sitting in the car comes in the opposite direction at 60 km/hr , person see too car running at 100 km/h came in a gap of 8 sec .
hence 100*8*(5/18) = 222.22m (5/18 is done to convert km/h to m/s)

since distance travelled by two car is same.
hence,speed of two car is (40+60)km/hr.
gap of each car is 8sec.
so,distance between 2 car is =(100000)m/hr*(83600)hr
=222.2m

logic (distance/speed)=time .but we have to convert into m/s speed from km/hr speed....and given opposite direction so we have to add two speeds....
