Anoop managed to draw 7 circles of equal radii with their centres on the diagonal of a square such that the two extreme circles touch two sides of the square and each middle circle touches two circles on either side. Find the ratio of the radius of the circles to the side of the square

Solution
Let the radius of circle be r
let the side of square be a
then diagonal of square= a*sqrt(2)
This diagonal length = 12*r + 2r * sqrt(2)
(because the extreme circle's radius is perpendicular to side of square.)
Thus we get

12*r+2r*sqrt(2)=a*sqrt(2)

r(6*sqrt(2)+2)=a

r/a=1/(6*sqrt(2)+2)

Thus ratio: r:a = 1:(6*sqrt(2)+2)

Ans: 1:(6*sqrt(2)+2)

(#M40000446) TCS QUESTION Stacked Gold Coin Keep an EYE Keep an eye puzzle Keep an eye puzzle

Alice and Bob play the following coins-on-a-stack game. 20 coins are stacked one above the other. One of them is a special (gold) coin and the rest are ordinary coins. The goal is to bring the gold coin to the top by repeatedly moving the topmost coin to another position in the stack.

Alice starts and the players take turns. A turn consists of moving the coin on the top to a position i below the top coin (0 = i = 20). We will call this an i-move (thus a 0-move implies doing nothing). The proviso is that an i-move cannot be repeated; for example once a player makes a 2-move, on subsequent turns neither player can make a 2-move.

If the gold coin happens to be on top when it's a player's turn then the player wins the game.

Initially, the gold coinis the third coin from the top. Then
Alice has no winning strategy.
In order to win, Alice's first move should be a 1-move.
In order to win, Alice's first move can be a 0-move or a 1-move.
In order to win, Alice's first move should be a 0-move.

There are 4 women who want to cross a bridge. They all begin on the same side. You have 17 minutes to get all of them across to the other side. It is night. There is one flashlight. A maximum of two people can cross at one time. Any party who crosses, either 1 or 2 people, must have the flashlight with them. The flashlight must be walked back and forth, it cannot be thrown, etc. Each woman walks at a different speed. A pair must walk together at the rate of the slower woman's pace.

Woman 1: 1 minute to cross
Woman 2: 2 minutes to cross
Woman 3: 5 minutes to cross
Woman 4: 10 minutes to cross

For example if Woman 1 and Woman 4 walk across first, 10 minutes have elapsed when they get to the other side of the bridge. If Woman 4 then returns with the flashlight, a total of 20 minutes have passed and you have failed the mission. What is the order required to get all women across in 17 minutes? (#M40000210) MICROSOFT QUESTION Keep an EYE Keep an eye puzzle Keep an eye puzzle

If you have two buckets, one with red paint and other with blue paint, and you take one cup from the blue bucket and pour it into the red bucket. Then you take one cup from the red bucket and pour it into the blue bucket. Which bucket has the higher ratio between red and blue? Prove it mathematically.

Solution
let volume of paint in bucket=10 liter
volume of cup = 1 liter
bucket A= red paint
Bucket B= Blue paint
after step 1=> Bucket A= 11 liter = 10 liter red + 1 liter blue
Bucket B= 9 liter blue

now 1 liter of bucket A= 1/11 liter blue and 10/11 red

after step 2=> Bucket A= 10 liter=100/11 red +10/11 blue
red/blue= 10/1

Bucket B= 10 liter
= 9 liter blue+1/11 blue +10/11 red
= 100/11 blue + 10/11 red .
red/blue = 1/10
so ratio of red/blue is (10/1) higher in first bucket of red paint than the ratio of red /blue (1/10) in second bucket

Grass in lawn grows equally thick and in a uniform rate. It takes 24 days for 70 cows and 60 days for 30 cows to eat the whole of the grass. How many cows are needed to eat the grass in 96 days?

Solution
I think this approach is very long to solve this problem i try to reduce some step
g= grass initially, r= rate at which grass grow/day, c= cow eat grass/day
g+24r=70*24c=1680c-----------1
g+60r=60*30c=1800c--------->g=1800c-60r----------------2
by solving this 2 equation we have relation c=(3/10)r-------------3
g+96r=96nc
=>96nc=1800c-60r+96r=1800c+36r=1800c+120c=1920c
=>n=20
