At 8:00 a.m. the bus started at 18mph, that means it will cover 27 miles in 1hr 30 mins that is by 9:30 a.m. Then after staying for 30 mins it started to return at 10 a.m. This time its speed is increased by 50%, i.e. 27mph (18+9), thus it will cover the return journey of 27 miles in 1 hour, 11:00 a.m.
Thus, the answer is (c). 11:00 a.m.

2.There are 200 questions on a 3 hr examination. Among these questions are 50
Mathematics problems. It is suggested that twice as much time be spent on each
maths problem as for each other question. How many minutes should be spent on
Mathematics problems
a) 36
b) 72
c) 60
d) 100

b) 72 minutes

Maths questions=50, Others questions=150
If time spent(in minutes) on other question=x, then time spent on Maths question=2x
Here, (50*2x)+(150*x)= 180, On solving x=18/25
So total time spent on Maths questions=50*2*18/25= 72 min.

SIDDHARTH KUMAR   11 years ago
let there were x men originally.
then x men can do the work in 10 days.
so 1 man can do the work in 10x days.
again
(x-10) men can do the work in 20 days .
so 1 man can do the work in (x-10)*20 days.
=>10x =(x-10)*20 =>x=20 .so 20 men were originally.

moni kumari   11 years ago
let originally the men =x and total days =10
then total men hours=(10*x)
now total men hours=20*(x-10)
10*x=20*(x-10)
x=20
